Ethical, local, quality honey for the public and honeybees for beekeepers

Tarland Blossom Comb Honey

This delicious comb honey comes from the hives of the Leahy family close to the village of Tarland in Royal Deeside. The hives sit on a hill overlooking the village and across to the ancient monument at Tomnaverie in the heart of the Howe of Cromar. This is a special place tucked away in Royal Deeside surrounded by unspoilt countryside and a haven for bees … and beekeepers!

The honey came in during the height of summer and, from its flavour, is a mix of a wide range of wildflowers. Pale summer blossoms such as this are slow to set with a delicate flowery flavour. It is a very limited edition with just 11 pieces available in January 2020!

The comb honey will remain delicious for a long time even if the honey continues to set, rapidly around the edge of the comb and in the box but slowly inside the sealed cells. We enjoy it spread on warm toast or on top of hot porridge, wax and all!

Sarah regularly helps Tay Bees and Honey and you may spot her honeys or even herself at one of our market stalls.
